Media Literacy is something about knowing whats there and whats not there in about almost every form of media from musics to movies and advertisements.
Critical Reflection#1 Do we Fcm students need em? i belive yes, as we could learn some helpfull skills. As most of you know it, it is a harsh world out there when you are working againts the big boys. So a little knowledge about Media Literacy is a plus side
Critical Reflection#2 We also learn the form of how factors such as, money, motives and the value of certain media is influencing the people,us.
Yet agian its a plus side to learn Media Literacy
Personal Reflection From my point of view, its great to learn Media Literacy( as i mentioned above) but I'm more aware of How we learn it, I believe any content can be delivered to any forgivin human, its just the matter on how it is delivered. Because one thing i learn from the Art/Media world is that, there is people with different perspective on things. That is why a simple product such as a cellphone has tons of design. Because there is Tons of people with tons of different taste.
My point is. i perfer to learn thing through the " did you knw.." way. I love to learn general knowledge. I remember once a video of " did you knw.." shown in class.. the content shows the fact of how many number of cellphones was wasted in Taiwan ever day, it shows that the Half of what the IT students studied will be out dated in just 2 years, thats half of the way to their degree already. This shocking facts did caught the whole class attention ( if You noticed ). So I'm just saying, reconisider on how you wanna transfer your content to our FCM students brain. less words and boring-ness.. more fun and creative-ness
FYI slides with nothing but just blank white background and tons of black words... is what making students turn on their Screen saver modes...

I <3 cartoons~!!
After reading a long and "interesting" article based on media stereotype
Link : http://web.media.mit.edu/~ayah/MediaTheories
Link : http://web.media.mit.edu/~ayah/MediaTheories
it pretty summarized to this. Cartoon uses a various type of religious and implied in into their cartoons. example :

Pictures taken from : http://web.media.mit.edu/~ayah/MediaTheories/ :
From my point of view , this is just depends on how the viewers view this. People who sees this as a racist problem are considered as close minded, hence the topic "stereotype" .
Critical reflection #1 | Yet again this a very diversify topic as there is a lot of ups and downs here. I have to say i had a hard time standing on either side. Cant deny that the pictures shown above really have the racist "factor" in it. but if u really REALLY watched cartoons. These parts are just 1/10000 of their whole productions. Its kinda like a little spice on their menu of the day. In fact from my experience, i learn a lot from cartoons from Disney / Wanner Brother's. Why? Its because they really shows the various type of culture in their cartoons, and since its CARTOON of course there is a little bit of humor in it.
Heck i even knew Hitler since i was age 7. Not like some of my friends only knew the name Hitler after watching the movie Valkerine .
Critical reflection #2 | Some of you might say kids tend to believe what they saw on TV yada yada etc.. True, i agree on that but here is where parents come in. Ever heard of Parental control? i watched every single cartoon i can lay my hands on and still i have not turned into a bad egg. My parents explained whenever something gory/ racist shows. heck i also didnt know a arab donold duck belly dancing = racist . Its all just entertaiment people, dont hate cartoon so much.Everyone has been a child before. So dont act all macho / matured. You know you miss em, so go grab a remote after finish reading this blog and tune into Cartoon Network.
Personal thinking | no class. well its the same if there is class or not.. its just boring. and.. average.. in my opinion we should learn more general knowledge from this class.. the more " did u knw..." is better.. example i learn how KCF started to advertise in Malaysia.

|Do you often take what is on the Internet as truth without thinking much about it? If yes, why? If no, why?|(from mmls)
Do you believe everything the internet has to say?
My answer is? uh.... | Depends |
With search engines like Google , Yahoo, and the ever popular facts site :Wikipedia. Most people nowadays tend to turn to them whenever or wherever an individual faces a problem. So, when do i believe? and when do i don't believe?
Take for example. Your searching for facts about a related historical place, the results in almost any site suggested is most likely going to be the same.WHY? because its already happened, and most people agree on how it happened/most people know how it happened.Or if you stumble upon a word that you do not understand. Where do u turn to ? Search engines 90% and people around you 10%. In that given situation. yes i do believe what the search results on definition given.
What if its something that happened recently?something "in"? Those gosips about celebrities? News say he/she had an affair with someone else? The next that that he/she comes denying everything what the News had said. So who do you gonna believe? Or somewhere someone claims to have sighted an UFO and has proof of a video on the internet(Youtube), so? To be believe or not to believe?
Now lets refer to the comic strip above(top),the general idea is"no, do not believe the internet" But lets view this in a more local point of view.Take for example that Nationalnews.com/ site is thestar.com.my/(a famous local newspaper distributor). We as Malaysian know this brand, heard of it, use of it. so the trust level is pretty high. If a foreigner who never heard of it,seen of it will surely doubt its published news. So the comic strip's message is " You cant trust everything that is publish on the internet"and my personal message is " You can trust certain things on that is publish on the internet"
So, how to believe and trust on certain things? Seeing is believing / The truth is out there(from the hit series X-files)
Thanks for viewing.
note| you have the right to believe or not to believe about this post.

Social media, its taking the world by storm. Take for example, embedding this video from Youtube into Blogspot is considered as social media. It's a term where we utilize the "tool" provided to us. We stay connected with this "tools". Making new friends have a different term with the introduction of social media. People with similar liking are able to get together easily with social media. Social media also allows people to speak freely about their own opinion, point of view and ideas.
Back in the hey days, when u have an brilliant idea. Only a hand full of people you can share your idea with, either its your best friends, relative, neighbor etc. Nowadays, whenever you had a brilliant idea and you wish to share it with the world. All you have to do is, post a blog about it/ post a short video about it/ or start a thread in any related forum. Instantly viewer's from all over the world will review/comment/pitch in your idea.
Critical Thinking #1
Social media just brings more advantage towards the advertising world then disadvantage. Consumers get influence by the society through social media.
Critical Thinking #2
The video above pointed out the various latest tool provided to us such as E-mail,forum,blog,Facebook, Friendster, messenger's etc. All of this allows us to stay communicated almost anytime anywhere.
Personal Thinking
I find it pleasing with the uprising social media. It really shows the personal touch in almost anything. It makes the society really feel connected with each other although they maybe a block away or half way through the world.
Kudos's to social media
